The Forest of Arden

Located near the geographical center of England, the Forest of Arden encompassed vast areas of untamed land bounded by the Icknield Street, Watling Street and Fosse Way. The name derives from the Brythonic word ardu, meaning “high” or “forested.”

The 111th Arden Fair took place September 1, 2023. It was a great success thanks to the many volunteers who make it happen. Organizing the Fair takes months of planning. Many meetings with Gild Leaders, Arden Club Board members and volunteers are held throughout the summer to shore up assignments, and then the Fair comes together.

The Fair also depends on the support of local businesses and sponsors. Fortunately, there are plenty of those in our town! the arden Village Business Directory is a handy guide to local merchants. And, the Village government has a webpage that contains essential information for residents, including a summary of town ordinances.

For those who want to learn more about our natural environment, we have a beautiful public forest, which abounds with wildlife, plants and wildflowers. Volunteers maintain its beauty through woods cleanups, ivy “pulls” and other events. The Forest Committee has a page on this website and a Facebook page, Forests of the Ardens, where they post updates.

Another popular Arden attraction is the Arden Swim Club, which is open to the general public for a membership fee and refundable bond. The swim team stresses fun and participation by all. The pool is a short walk from the clubhouse and offers amenities that are not available at other local pools.
